Welding as an Art Form? Meet George Blanas

See the word "welding", and most people have a mental picture of joining two pieces of metal together with extreme heat. But thanks to George Blanas, many of our welding customers now see welding as an art.

It's not surprising. Not only do George's jobs include commercial, industrial and residential welding, he has also created a new entity in the world of welding, and that is specialty "art". So now, in addition to pressure vessels, custom sheet metal fabrication, bridges, pipe welding, handrails, fire escapes, security screens and mailboxes, George has added the creation of unique pieces of furniture, sculptures, and other objets d'art. As one customer recently put it - "George can repair it, design it, or fabricate it. The man does it all!"

For nearly 30 years, George has maintained his status as a certified welder, working to ASME Code. His extensive training began when he was a student attending Harrisburg Vo/Tech School. After high school, he worked on army trucks and artillery, and various production lines. He also taught evening adult education classes at Dauphin County Vo/Tech School.

When George first came to Eshenaurs, his primary task was to build and supervise the Welding Department. Since then, we have added two highly skilled machinists, Mike and Butch Lower, to our team to form a "Machining and Fabrication Department." Together they have over 75 years of combined experience in precision machining, welding and fabrication, drafting and design.

"We can handle all metal needs and repairs, and any fabrications in our machine shop or on location," says George. "From the very first phone call, we will visit the site, estimate the job, draw up the plans, and finally do the work."

"We can work with any metal including aluminum, steel, brass, and cast iron. Whatever the need is, commercial or residential, we can either fix it or make a new one. In other words, the capabilities of our Machining and Fabrication Department are endless."
